West Ham United: Sky Sports journalist shares triple international verdict in clash v Burnley

West Ham trio Jarrod Bowen, James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips will all have been trying to impress Gareth Southgate versus Burnley.

That is according to Sky Sports journalist Dan Long, who shared the verdict ahead of the Premier League clash on Sunday (10 March).

All three players started as Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate watched on, but both Ward-Prowse and Phillips were taken off at half-time.

“Gareth Southgate is here in east London this afternoon, no doubt with an eye on a few players ahead of the upcoming fixtures against Brazil and Belgium,” said Long, as per Sky Sports. “Jarrod Bowen, James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips will all be looking to impress the England boss.”

Will there be West Ham representation in the next England squad?

Southgate was certainly treated to an exciting affair at the London Stadium, where the two clubs played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.

It was an Englishman who was the hero for the home side, but definitely not one that Southgate was there to monitor.

Hammers ace Lucas Paqueta ignited a second-half comeback after David Datro Fofana and a Konstantinos Mavropanos own goal gave Burnley a shock 2-0 lead at the break, with super substitute Danny Ings stepping up to secure a point.

The former Clarets man broke the hearts of those supporting his former club, with Ings nearly grabbing a remarkable hat-trick from the bench.

He thought he had levelled things not long after entering the pitch, only for his strike to be cancelled out due to a Michail Antonio offside.

But another Ings strike was not to be ruled out, with the former Liverpool and Southampton man then firing a shot off the bar in the closing minutes.
