West Ham United news as Jarrod Bowen only has 'minor details' to sort before signing contract extension

West Ham and Jarrod Bowen are close to agreeing a contract extension for the 26-year-old, according to WestHamOnline.

The Twitter page, which is followed by reliable source ExWHUEmployee, provided an update (17 August) that stated that there are just “minor details to iron out” before the contract extension is agreed.

Bowen loves the club’s supporters and is not willing to relocate, mostly due to his girlfriend and family, the report added.

If a new contract is agreed, it should be a long-term deal, which will be announced in due course.

Massive

This news is huge for West Ham and the club’s supporters. Bowen is a modern-day legend at the London Stadium, particularly after his last-minute winning goal in the UEFA Europa Conference League final earlier this year.

He is a key player for David Moyes’ side and following the departure of club captain Declan Rice, he is arguably their best and most important player. Tying him down to a new deal will feel as good as a brand-new signing.

At the age of 26, he is still in the prime of his career and has plenty of room and time to develop into an even more important player for the East London outfit. His record speaks for itself, having scored 41 times and provided 31 assists from out wide in 159 appearances for the club.

And his significance to the team showed no signs of slowing down as the current Premier League season got underway when he scored on the road to Bournemouth in the club’s 1-1 draw on the South Coast.

In other West Ham news, a third bid is imminent for Lucas Paqueta.
