West Ham United links to Boulaye Dia likely at World Cup
West Ham will be keeping close tabs on Senegal striker Boulaye Dia over the World Cup as they look to add goals to their squad in January, according to Dean Jones.
The 26-year-old forward has emerged as a potential signing for David Moyes following Gianluca Scamacca’s struggles to adapt to the Premier League and as his West Ham draw ever closer to the relegation zone.
The Senegalese international has been in fine goalscoring form this season, netting six goals from his 14 appearances for Salernitana, and he will now prove a pivotal figure for his country at the World Cup following an injury to Sadio Mane.
Writing his transfer update for GIVEMESPORT, Jones outlined the East London club’s interest in the up-and-coming star.
He stated: “He’s having a solid season on loan at Salernitana from Villarreal and his ability to play off the shoulder and finish one-on-ones means he has real goal potential.
“He’s got great goal awareness and will really see this as an opportunity to shine.

“Senegal take on Netherlands on Monday and if Dia does well we can expect links with the likes of West Ham, Leeds and Everton to emerge.”
Reinforcements needed
It is promising news that West Ham are being linked with the likes of Dia, as a lack of goals has thwarted The Hammers all season long.
Marquee summer signing Gianluca Scamacca hasn’t found his scoring boots for the club yet – netting just twice from his 15 appearances – and reinforcements are therefore a necessity in the January transfer window.
Moyes and his coaching staff will be keeping an eye on how the forward performs on the big stage at the World Cup now that Senegal are missing Sadio Mane and needing a replacement for his goals.
Whether Dia possesses the quality to become a success in the Premier League is not yet known, with the 26-year-old having only scored 58 goals over his whole professional career, and struggling to impress at Villarreal last season.
If West Ham are looking for more strength in depth in their squad Dia could be an astute addition for a relatively modest fee, but if Moyes is looking for a striker to start week-in-week-out, their might be better options.
