West Ham United impressed by Celtic full-back Josip Juranovic

West Ham United are “impressed” by Celtic right back Josip Juranovic as speculation grows over Vladimir Coufal’s future, according to 90min.

Juranovic is currently representing Croatia at the World Cup in Qatar, and it’s believed any move for the full-back is dependent on Bayer Leverkusen’s interest in Coufal (90min, 30 November).

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has suggested (via Twitter, 9 November) the Bundesliga side are ready to sell players to fund a move for the 30-year-old.

It’s understood West Ham will sanction an exit for Coufal if the price is right, with the Czech Republic international currently in and out of the side.

Good move

It’s been a really tough season for Coufal so far, and it does feel as if his time at the London Stadium may well be coming to an end. At 30, the full-back will want regular football and it appears Bayer Leverkusen are more than happy to offer it to him.

Moyes has used Ben Johnson and Thilo Kehrer in the right-back position this season, and it feels as if Coufal has fallen down the pecking order. He’s been an excellent addition for the Hammers over a number of years, but Juranovic will give the Hammers’ right-back berth a much-needed refresh.

The Celtic man has been in fine form in the 2022/23 season and understands the pressure of a big club, with The Hoops playing in the Champions League this season. Furthermore, the 27-year-old also has experience of playing in the World Cup in recent weeks.

He is contracted to Celtic until the summer of 2026 so it would take some financial muscle to land the Croatian, but it’s certainly a move David Moyes should be exploring.
