West Ham United ace Michail Antonio scored an “excellent” header in his club’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

That is according to Alan Shearer, with the two clubs having met at the London Stadium on Sunday (17 March).

Antonio put the home side ahead after 29 minutes, with Nicolo Zaniolo equalising for the visitors in the 79th minute.

Naming Antonio in his Team of the Week, Shearer told the official Premier League website: “Pressed really well from the front, gave West Ham a focal point and scored an excellent diving header. Unlucky not to have added another goal too as it went in off his arm.”

David Moyes surely grateful to have Michail Antonio back at West Ham

The Hammers endured a nightmare start to 2024, with injuries to star players Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio definitely playing a part in their disastrous form.

But both are now back on the pitch and really impressing, with Antonio taking his goal superbly against Aston Villa.

The Jamaican international was in the right place at the right time, before expertly guiding the ball into the back of the net with his head.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, their form has come at the wrong time, with their momentum set to be disrupted by the international break later this month.

Moyes will be desperate for his players to come back fit and healthy as he targets a strong finish to the season.
