talkSPORT pundit tips Jarrod Bowen for huge West Ham exit transfer

Tony Cascarino has talked up the prospect of Jarrod Bowen leaving West Ham for Liverpool as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The ex-Gillingham and Millwall striker sees the Hammers forward as the type of player that Jurgen Klopp “loves” and compared him to Sadio Mane.

The former Ireland international told talkSPORT on Sunday, via The Express: “I actually thought, if [Liverpool] lost Mo Salah, who could [they] logically go after?

“Well, the lad Bowen at West Ham ticks all those boxes because he’s tenacious, he chases everything and is decent technically, but not extraordinary.

“I keep thinking who would fit into that Liverpool frontline? Because Klopp loves those kinds of players in wide areas, who will chase and hassle players and will do the ugly things for their team, and will always get chances.”

High praise

It has previously been reported how the Reds manager feels about the ex-Hull City man, with him saying before the season: “I like Bowen a lot” (via Liverpool Echo).

At the time the Champions League winner was speaking positively about a variety of Irons players but it is his interest in Bowen that has stuck, especially considering the form the Englishman has been showing of late at the London Stadium.

Although back-to-back losses will have dampened the praise slightly, the wins over Leeds in the FA Cup and Norwich in the league seemed to revolve around him, as he scored three and was only prevented from registering multiple other goals by VAR and the frame of the goal.

Even in the league loss to Leeds he scored again, although a glaring miss late on could have secured a point.

The illustrious wide attackers at Anfield, Salah and Mane are both 29 now and while that does not mean they are likely to be over the hill imminently, it makes sense that support and back up will be required.

Diogo Jota fit a similar profile to Bowen when he became a £40million signing from Wolves, and has subsequently gone from strength to strength.

The Hammers man might feel he could do the same thing, but David Moyes will surely do everything he can to hold on to the player who has become his top attacking outlet recently.

In other West Ham news, there has been good news in the club’s pursuit of this striker.
