John Hartson thrilled by West Ham ace Andriy Yarmolenko for Ukraine

West Ham United winger Andriy Yarmolenko was once again the main man for Ukraine in their clash with North Macedonia.

The rarely-used player at the London Stadium showed us what we could be missing, as he curled home a rocket against Holland over the weekend.

John Hartson was left thrilled this afternoon, as Yarmolenko continued to show his skilful flicks and tricks.

Speaking on ITV’s live coverage of the clash, Hartson was impressed despite his moment of invention not coming off in the first half.

“Fantastic first touch,” he said.

“He’s probably thinking of rolling the defender but he took his eye off the ball.”

West Ham

Shining.

We all know what Yarmolenko is capable of, but he fails to show it consistently, if ever in the Premier League.

The winger has been given so many chances by the likes of David Moyes, but either his end product or basic fitness hasn’t been good enough.

These games coming thick and fast every other day may help, and he can stay at the top of his game without the worries of the deep squad.

Ukraine don’t have a mountain of options in the final third, so he is guaranteed to start, freedom he doesn’t have at West Ham.

A goal was added to that with a tap-in, his second of the tournament, confidence will be sky-high.
