Declan Rice makes his West Ham United future clear with European admission

West Ham star man Declan Rice has made his future at the London Stadium clear amid continuous reports linking him with a move away from the club.

The England international most recently turned down his fourth new contract [Sky Sports] from the Irons which saw speculations of a move in the summer skyrocket.

With the Hammers’ draw against Manchester City confirming European football next season – the 23-year-old has shed light on his immediate future in east London.

Rice said as per Claret & Hugh: “The result confirmed European football all-round.

“That’s good for the club because we’re going to have European nights again next year.

“We want it to be the Europa League, and that’s no disrespect to the Conference League – we just want it to be Europa after we’ve had a taste of that.

“Let’s be positive and wait and see, but if we play like we did today against Brighton & Hove Albion next week, we’ll be alright.”

Great news.

Many thought that the midfielder would leave at the end of this season after turning down another new contract.

David Moyes’ side looked to be on their way to winning the Europa League which might have seen Rice leave at the end of the season with it being the perfect send-off.

No one can say for sure apart from him but ever since the Irons were knocked out in the semi-final, his focus seems to have switched to next season and redemption.

That goes without saying for almost every footballer but you get the sense that the Three Lions ace wants to win something with the London Stadium outfit before he inevitably departs.

It is great that the youngster looks set to stay for another year at least and who knows if he feels as if he still has work to do he could extend another year with the availability there in his contract.

In other West Ham news, Martin Samuel has responded to the latest West Ham London Stadium developments dubbing it the “deal of the century”.
