Alex Crook gushes over ‘terrific’ Mohammed Kudus with Manchester United jab after West Ham United form

Alex Crook and Sam Matterface have aimed a dig at Manchester United live on talkSPORT, suggesting the club should have signed West Ham star Mohammed Kudus rather than Antony.

The dig came amid high praise for Kudus, gushing over how well the Ghanaian has adapted to life in the Premier League, having scored ten goals already for the Hammers across all competitions.

Crook joked that Man United had mistakenly written Antony on their bid to Ajax rather than Kudus, given the pair’s polarising starts to their careers in English football.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [27 December], Matterface gushed over Kudus’ West Ham form, saying: “Kudus has done brilliantly by the way, his goal return, the way he’s seamlessly come into the Premier League when you think he’s scored double figures already… It’s a seamless transition.”

“It’s not always easy to make that step up from the Dutch league,” said Crook, “Just ask Antony. Actually, I do wonder if Manchester United misspelt Kudus’ name when they submitted the official bid for Antony because it looks like they’ve signed the wrong winger from Ajax.

“It’s a valid point because he’s been terrific and other players that have come from the Eredivisie have floundered in the Premier League.”

West Ham have got themselves a star

Not even half a season has gone by since Kudus made the move to East London, and people are already suggesting the bigger clubs in the Premier League should have pipped them to his signature. That in itself is a testament to the levels he has shown since his summer move.

Ten goals and an assist already, with six of those goals coming from just nine Premier League starts, displays just how good the Ghanaian has been under David Moyes as he continues to thrive in the freedom granted to him by his attacking role at the London Stadium.

Antony, meanwhile, is still yet to record a single goal or assist so far this season, with frustrations building at Manchester United and people suggesting the club have wasted their money after spending big on the Brazilian.

With Antony’s transfer fee at a reported £82million [BBC], and Kudus joining West Ham for a fee in the region of £38million [Sky Sports], it is clear to see that the Hammers got the better of the two deals, and United may be regretting their choices.
