WHZ View: Sebastien Haller would be lucky to keep West Ham spot v Aston Villa
West Ham United forward Sebastien Haller finally found the back of the net against Sheffield United last weekend.
Michail Antonio has been missing for some weeks after pulling his hamstring, and it has been a big blow for the Irons in the Premier League.
Claret and Hugh shared a major boost on Thursday, with Antonio back in full training and available for the game with Aston Villa.
Haller may have scored against the Blades, but he didn’t exactly impress.
The 25-year-old attempted 82 actions but was only successful with 38 of them – that is only 46% according to Wyscout.
The Ivorian international only won 40% of his duels and actually lost the ball 22 times at Bramall Lane, which isn’t exactly impressive.
Frank McAvennie has exclusively told West Ham Zone that he still expects more from Haller, despite his goal in Yorkshire.
Haller got his goal, and that was great.
But, with Antonio back fully fit, it may be time for David Moyes to bite the bullet and throw him straight back into the action against Villa.
Antonio has been excellent in the past two seasons and continues to lead the line to great effect – compared to Haller, who struggles in the lone role.
No one in the entire squad has attempted more shots per game than the 30-year-old according to WhoScored and the Irons have missed that threat.
Either way, it will be great to have Antonio available at least as a super-sub, but Haller would certainly be lucky to keep his spot after another lacklustre showing.
