WHZ View: West Ham would land star of the future in Moises Caicedo

West Ham would be signing one of the stars of the future if they were able to complete a deal for Moises Caicedo.

The young Ecuadorian midfielder is one of the hottest properties in world football at the moment and looks set for a big Premier League move.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has named West Ham as one of the many clubs reportedly interested in a deal to sign Caicedo this month.

Brighton now appear to be favourites, with Romano claiming that an official bid has been lodged by Graham Potter’s side, but the Hammers should pull out all the stops to try and scupper a deal.

South American football expert Tim Vickery told Sky Sports News that the player was the ‘real deal’ recently and his own manager Miguel Angel Ramirez explained to Marca that the midfielder ‘understands the game’ brilliantly for someone so young.

Caicedo himself says he models his game on a combination of both N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba, which is certainly an exciting prospect.

During the 2020 Ecuador Liga Pro season, Caicedo boasted an impressive 93 per cent pass accuracy, according to Wyscout.

He also averaged nearly six passes into the final third per 90 minutes domestically, with a 90 per cent accuracy rate.

West Ham will be well aware that they need to plan for the future in midfield. Declan Rice continues to be linked with big-money moves to either Chelsea or Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Moyes can expect Tomas Soucek to attract interest if he continues to showcase the brilliant level of form he has displayed in the Premier League this season.

With Caicedo in demand, it might be a tough deal to complete for the Hammers, but he will be a player that will be one to keep a close eye on in years to come.
