West Ham well placed to sign Raheem Sterling after confirmed Chelsea news

Raheem Sterling has been mooted for a move to West Ham.

The winter window has provided all sorts of chaos for West Ham, with several new arrivals and several exits already, and still with more to come.

Lucas Paqueta’s move to Flamengo is all but confirmed, James Ward-Prowse is set for a medical at Burnley, and a handful of others could still be afforded a move away from the London Stadium.

However, the latest update concerns a potential incoming at West Ham, and next through the door could be Sterling.

Raheem Sterling seals Chelsea exit

Sterling was once regarded as one of the best wingers in world football, and yet since then, his career has been on a downward trajectory, and it all stems from his move to Chelsea.

Off the back of a 25 G/A season with Man City, Sterling made the move to Stamford Bridge in 2022, and found himself shipped out on loan to Arsenal just two seasons later.

Fast forward to now, and the Englishman hasn’t made a single appearance this season, casting major doubt over his future.

Now, Chelsea have confirmed that the 31-year-old has left the club by mutual consent, and will be free to find a new club as a free agent.

West Ham have been linked with Sterling, and with him having expressed his desire to stay in London, the Irons may be best placed to sign him.

Of course, now that Sterling is a free agent, a deal could happen after the transfer deadline on 2 February, with the Hammers in no need to rush into a move.

Sterling could replace exit-linked West Ham star

Sterling has played in several positions throughout his career, but most of his success has been found while playing on the left flank.

Of course, that is the same position as Crysencio Summerville, who has been linked with an exit from the London Stadium.

Roma are said to have made a verbal offer to sign the former Leeds star, with a deal likely to cost them in the region of £25million.

The Hammers would be silly to sanction his exit unless a replacement was ready to come in, and while it would take him a few weeks to get up to speed, Sterling could be the perfect one, given the experience he has gathered throughout his time in the Premier League.
