West Ham United transfer decision vindicated as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain suffers injury
West Ham may have dodged a big bullet by not seriously pursuing a deal for Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
Claret and Hugh reported on 26 May that the Hammers considered Oxlade-Chamberlain as a potential option for them in the summer.
The 28-year-old was reported to be available for around £10m, a fee that was well within the Irons’ budget.

However, the Hammers didn’t make any concrete attempt to sign the midfielder, and he stayed on at Liverpool.
It seems their decision has been vindicated with The Atheltic reporting on 30 July that Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a hamstring injury.
The former Arsenal midfielder has picked up a “serious” injury, and he is expected to be out till October.
He was sidelined since limping off during the club’s pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace on 15 July. And now, it seems the player is set to miss action for a lengthy spell on the sideline.

David Moyes still needs to add a midfielder to his squad this summer. The latest injury to Oxlade-Chamberlain means he is now off the market, and there’s no way the Hammers would make a move for him.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is a fantastic player when he is on a song. He has got loads of quality, and he is vastly experienced as well.
His fitness remains a big issue. He has struggled with his fitness at Anfield in the past few seasons and now he will miss a chunk of action already for the next season. I
In hindsight, it can be said that the club made a big call by not going after him this summer.
