West Ham United should react to Newcastle United bid for Maxwel Cornet
A winger is high on the agenda for David Moyes and West Ham United and they could look towards the Championship for their man.
Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon account on 27 July that the Irons were considering making a move for Burnley hotshot Maxwel Cornet along with their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic.
The Ivorian international only arrived at Turf Moor in January but he could not help to keep the Clarets in the Premier League and his release clause of £17.5million is now active.
And that figure is about to be met with the mega-rich Newcastle United ready to trigger that clause in a bid to hijack any other transfer move to sign the 25-year-old, according to talkSPORT.
West ham have been waiting in the wings down this particular avenue having seen Everton and Nottingham Forest fall by the wayside in their attempts to prize him away from Lancashire although the Toffees remain keen.
But with the Magpies now close to making their big move, the time for waiting has come to an abrupt end and the Hammers cannot afford to allow Newcastle a free swing at this given their endless pockets of money.
Right now, West Ham will be a more attractive club to join with the European football on offer and the proven ability to compete on all fronts throughout a season.
But money always talks in football nowadays and as soon as he sees the wage packet Newcastle can offer him, there will be little the Irons can do to stop his move to the North East.
