West Ham United should be encouraged by Ismaila Sarr’s new price tag

West Ham United’s pursuit of a new winger is still in full flow and one player they are keen to sign is Watford’s, Ismaila Sarr.

ExWHUEmployee reported on his Patreon account on 12 July that the Irons may well be ready to up the ante in their pursuit of the Senegalese international and they now know what price they will have to pay to sign him.

According to Foot Mercato, the Hornets would be willing to let the 24-year-old leave for just £29.3million although there is now new interest from Italy but no offers have been sent to Vicarage Road yet.

West Ham though should be encouraged that a not entirely unreasonable price has been quoted because his Premier League experience and lightning speed could make for a sensational under-the-radar purchase.

Former Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster is a huge admirer of Sarr and his quotes on Inside the Hive should be all David Moyes needs to hear about his potential summer target.

“He is a bit of a freak, honestly he is,” Foster said. “I still don’t think people understand quite how quick Ismaila Sarr is. His acceleration off from a standing start is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

“And genuinely, I’m being genuine there, I’ve never seen anybody accelerate from a standing start as quick as what he does.”

West Ham

Of all the different players West Ham have in their squad, the one thing they are arguably lacking is that one speedster who can rip past any defender and help launch counter-attacks at record pace.

That is what Sarr would bring to the table and his end product, although shaky at times, is improving year after year and the London Stadium could be the place to help him with that.

At 24 years of age, his potential is still high enough that he can make a big impact at Rush Green and maybe even be sold on for profit further down the line.
