West Ham United on alert as Rayan Cherki transfer update emerges today
West Ham United must be ready to pounce for long-term target Rayan Cherki as there is a chance he could now leave Lyon in January.
The 21-year-old has been linked to the Hammers for a while now and is said to be Julen Lopetegui’s top target [Inside Futbol, 27 October] going into the next transfer window.
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg via his personal X account [25 November], a Lyon exit is now on the cards for the attacking player, whose contract expires in 2026.
Other sides are credited with interest so West Ham will have to push if they want to get this one done, but he could be an addition to the side that could be crucial in improving the side’s prospects this season.
Could Rayan Cherki be what West Ham need?
The young midfielder has two goals and an assist for Lyon so far this season, showing he has the talent to make a good contribution to his side.
At a young age, this makes him an exciting player and therefore, you can see why West Ham are among a number of sides interested in securing his services.
In addition to this, due to the financial struggles at Lyon, it serves as a strong motivation to sell Cherki while there is plenty of interest in order to ease their debts.

This would certainly be a great signing for the East London outfit and he could definitely make an impact in the second half of the season as the Hammers look to improve.
That being said, if Lopetegui’s team have to beat other teams to secure his services they may well struggle given their current position in the league.
On the other hand, if David Sullivan is not keen to make a quick decision on his manager’s future, then securing this signing would no doubt be a geat boost.
In other West Ham news, David Moyes is being eyed by Everton as their new manager after what he did for the Hammers.
