West Ham United must work extra hard to land Cole Palmer as £45m Fabrizio Romano update emerges

West Ham fans were forced to wait for new signings in the early stages of the summer transfer window, much to their frustration.

But the club have made big moves in recent weeks, bringing in James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mohammed Kudus to the London Stadium.

Such signings have signalled a real intent from the East London club, who clearly want to have a successful season in both the Premier League and Europa League.

But the Hammers might not stop there, having identified Manchester City ace Cole Palmer as another potential addition this summer.

According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon (29 August), West Ham are among several Premier League clubs currently waiting to hear if they have been successful in their pursuit of the 21-year-old.

But one club battling it out with the Hammers is London rivals Chelsea, who according to Fabrizio Romano (30 August) are discussing a move for the player, with Manchester City wanting £45million for his services.

The East London outfit have proven they are willing to spend big this summer in order to bring in new faces, but this may just be a step too far, especially given how Palmer is still a very young player.

A new winger would, however, be a welcome addition at the London Stadium, and Palmer has certainly proven he knows how to find the back of the net in his brief career so far.

With a transfer window deadline of Friday (1 September), time is running out for any club to snap up the talented Manchester City attacker.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have held talks for a new striker, with a loan or permanent deal possible.
