West Ham United must react as Borussia Dortmund ready talks to sign Giovanni Simeone

While Gianluca Scamacca will solve one attacking issues for West Ham United, another could be resolved by signing this talented South American.

Giovanni Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego, enjoyed his best goal-scoring season in 2021-22 for Italian side Hellas Verona with 17 goals during his loan move from Cagliari.

That move has now been made permanent but the Irons are keen to bring him to the London Stadium, according to Calcio Mercato on 14 July.

However, the Irons are not alone in the hunt to sign the Argentinian with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund now chasing his signature and set to hold talks with Hellas this week.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, the German outfit will be heading to Italy on either Thursday or Friday to negotiate with the Serie A club over a deal to sign the 27-year-old.

David Moyes may consider his striker problem sorted with Scamacca but ‘El Cholito’ – as he is often known as – could offer a new angle of attack rather than the target man-like Italian.

His trickery and quick feet are similar to that of former Hammer Mauro Zarate who may not have possessed the great athleticism of his teammates but made up for it with supreme technical ability.

Such a player can therefore be moved around the pitch to play either through the middle, on the wing or even as a number 10 which is an option West Ham currently don’t possess in any capacity.

That might be the final ingredient needed at the London Stadium to make the Irons a much more tricky opponent to face so if the chance is still there for the powers that be, they need to open talks with Hellas before Dortmund snatch him away.
