West Ham United must move quickly in Divock Origi pursuit as Sheffield United eye ‘shock’ transfer
West Ham desperately need new faces in the door this summer if they are to have any hope of competing successfully on all fronts.
The Hammers will have it very tough this season as they look to battle it out with the big guns in the Premier League and in the Europa League.
They have brought in midfielders James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez, with one or two other signings perhaps close.
And one deal that could potentially be completed before the transfer window closes is a move for AC Milan striker Divock Origi.
According to Tutto Mercato Web (18 August), the Hammers are closely following the former Liverpool man as a replacement for the recently-departed Gianluca Scamacca.
But as with plenty of other reported West Ham targets, they are not the only club interested in bringing the Belgian back to the Premier League.
According to The Sun (19 August), fellow top flight club Sheffield United are considering a “shock” loan deal for the 28-year-old.
The interest from the Blades means David Moyes must move very quickly if he is to convince the striker to move to the London Stadium this summer.
An exit from AC Milan seems the most likely scenario for the Belgium international, but it remains uncertain where his next destination will be. The striker hit 41 goals from 175 Liverpool appearances, 22 of which came in the Premier League.
Moyes currently has Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama to choose from in terms of striker options following Scamacca’s move to Atalanta.
