West Ham United may get respite as Manchester City transfer update emerges on Dani Olmo
West Ham may be given respite in their bid to hold onto Lucas Paqueta despite Manchester City interest, as they are now targeting RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian journalist shared via his website on 16 August that Manchester City are now targeting a move for Olmo, who is Pep Guardiola’s “dream” replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who is expected to miss the next four months with an injury.
City have been heavily linked with a move for Paqueta after seeing a £70million offer rejected by the Hammers, but may now have set their sights elsewhere.

Shouldn’t get your hopes up
While the potential move for Olmo could disrupt City’s move for Paqueta, West Ham fans should not get their hopes up quite yet. It is well-documented how much the Premier League Champions want to bring the West Ham star to the Eithad, and it would not come as a surprise if they move for them both.
The deal for Olmo is reported to be a difficult one, as Leipzig has no intention of letting their star player leave following his hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup.
Olmo has a £47.1million release clause which becomes active next summer, but Leipzig are expected to demand between £68.5million and £85.6million for his signature this year.

The most recent reports of City’s chase for Paqueta have seen Fabrizio Romano suggest there will be a fresh bid made in the next 24 to 48 hours, while they will keep pushing for the signing of Jeremy Doku.
If Olmo is also on their list, it could be a busy few weeks for City fans.
