West Ham United have like-for-like Declan Rice replacement in Sofyan Amrabat

West Ham United have a like-for-like Declan Rice replacement in Moroccan World Cup hero Sofyan Amrabat after the club were linked with the maestro on 16 December. (Daily Mail, 16 December, page 76).

Amrabat has become a maestro on the World stage with his majestic FIFA World Cup performances, helping Morocco to an unprecedented semi-final finish.

Head of Tifo Football’s illustrated channel Seb Stafford-Bloor lauded the Fiorentina star’s “extraordinary” tournament, confessing he hasn’t seen a better series of performances at the World Cup.

“Can’t think of a better series of World Cup performances than Sofyan Amrabat’s last three games,” he said on Twitter.

“He’s been extraordinary.”

Now with the Daily Express reporting on 15 December, that Rice is being lined up for a mega bid by Chelsea, West Ham United must look for his replacement and Amrabat fits the bill.

West Ham

Like-for-like.

Rice departing the London Stadium is inevitable, right? Surely most West Ham United fans aren’t deluded enough to oversee this glaring fact.

This makes the links to the classy Amrabat even more enticing, his World Cup performances have proven he’s more than capable of mixing it with football’s elite.

Crunching tackles, a never say die attitude and an eye for a defence-splitting pace esque of the great Andreas Iniesta are just some of the qualities the Morrocan possesses.

Chelsea, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid have been named alongside the Hammers as contenders for his signature so the club will have to act quickly if they want his services.

His versatility and physical nature look to be a match made in heaven for the English top flight and it would be glorious to see him in the Claret and Blue of West Ham United.

One thing that would have to be adjusted, however, is his ability to play in David Moyes’ possession-based team, the Morrocan national squad have consistently used counter-attacking tactics.

Nevertheless, the way he has performed at the World Cup suggests he’s more than capable of doing this, fingers crossed that West Ham United can pull this one off.
