West Ham United have door open to move for Georginio Wijnaldum after Paris Saint-Germain news

Paris Saint-Germain want to offload Georginio Wijnaldum within days which could leave the door open for West Ham United to secure a loan deal.

On 24 June 90min revealed that West Ham are keeping close tabs on the situation with the French side keen to move the 31-year-old on this summer.

It now appears that an exit could be imminent with Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano suggesting (via Twitter) on Friday 22 July that PSG are looking to loan the Dutch midfielder out within a matter of days.

David Moyes certainly needs some midfield cover heading into the new Premier League campaign with the West Ham boss currently having three solid options to choose from.

A loan move for Wijnaldum would be an excellent piece of business for the Hammers to complete, with PSG even likely to cover some of his wages.

The Dutch international is unlikely to come cheap so a loan move would be a smart choice by West Ham’s hierarchy.

West Ham

The Hammers are probably three positions away from being set for the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season, with a left-back, striker and backup midfielder the most likely positions for Moyes to look into.

A striker has to be top of Moyes’ shopping list at present with talks still ongoing for Gianluca Scamacca and Chelsea’s 20-year-old striker Armando Broja.

If West Ham’s hierarchy can add three more additions to their squad then they would’ve had a very successful summer window and fans could be confident that the Irons will be challenging for the top-six once again.
