West Ham United handed new Lucas Paqueta boost after international developments

West Ham United supporters will be keeping a close eye on all of the Hammers stars involved in the October international break.

While fans will be keen to see members of Julen Lopetegui’s side build some good form, the most important that from an Irons’ perspective will be that every player returns to the London Stadium fit and injury-free.

Both Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal appear to have dealt with the Czech Republic’s win over Albania well enough while Mohammed Kudus came through Ghana’s clash with Sudan unscathed, even if he wasn’t at his best.

On top of that, the Hammers appear to have been handed a new Lucas Paqueta boost during the international break after new developments involving the Brazilian national team.

What has happened to Lucas Paqueta at the London Stadium and West Ham?

The attacking midfielder picked up a yellow card just three minutes into their 2-1 win over Chile on Thursday (10 October) which will see him suspended for the clash with Peru on Wednesday (14 October) [RTI Sport, 12 October].

Former West Brom star Matheus Pereira has been called up to the national squad as a replacement for the West Ham ace ahead of the showdown in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

While it is unclear whether or not Paqueta will return to East London now or remain with the Brazil squad for the remainder of the international break, his suspension means that he is unlikely to pick up an injury whilst away this month.

The attacking midfielder may not have been at his best in claret and blue so far this term, but he remains one of the Irons’ most important players, particularly in possession.

Lucas Paqueta’s potential ban could leave West Ham short of options in midfield.

Losing him for any length of time would have been a massive blow to Lopetegui and the rest of his coaching team, especially when the Brazilian international’s long-term future continues to hang in the balance.

Hopefully, after his international suspension, Paqueta will be chomping at the bit to get back into Premier League action.

He should be fit and firing when Spurs make the trip across the capital to the London Stadium on Saturday (19 October).
