West Ham United handed double blow ahead of Brentford clash as ‘bogey side’ statistic emerges

West Ham United really need to start picking up victories if they are to move up the Premier League table once more.

It has been a roller-coaster campaign for the Hammers so far, with the East London club not able to find any consistency.

Now, however, they cannot even find a win, with David Moyes under pressure in the dugout amid a very poor run of form.

The manager has the chance to put an end to the disastrous spell once and for all when capital rivals Brentford make the short trip to the London Stadium on Monday (26 February).

But the home side have been handed a double statistical blow before kick-off, the first of which involves the fact that the Bees have won all five of the previous Premier League matches between the two clubs, as per the official Premier League website (25 February), labelling Brentford as West Ham’s “bogey side.”

The second negative statistic involves the Hammers having faced more than 20 shots in four of their last seven matches [official Premier League website, 25 February], which is not what the London Stadium will want to hear ahead of another important game.

Fortunately, some huge wins earlier in the campaign mean Moyes’s side are still in the top half of the Premier League table, with their upcoming opponents struggling in 15th place.

There can be little room for error in this one, with the London Stadium faithful certain to be nervous in the moments building up to kick-off given their nightmare start to 2024.
