West Ham United handed boost as AC Milan ace Divock Origi placed on transfer list, can improve Hammers attack

West Ham should definitely be in the market for a new striker this summer, with the Hammers forwards not exactly lighting up the final third last season.

Things are only going to get more difficult next time out in the Premier League and the Europa League, and David Moyes will be fully aware of this step up in class.

The manager has the likes of Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Gianluca Scamacca to call upon, perhaps in that order, with youngster Divin Mubama also in contention.

But even among the four of them, there haven’t been enough goals in recent times, with Scamacca perhaps heading for the exit door this summer to make matters worse.

Fortunately, however, West Ham have been handed a boost amid this issue, with AC Milan placing Divock Origi on the transfer list, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The publication noted that his name has ended up in dialogue with the Hammers on two occasions; to discuss his move and to propose an exchange with Scamacca.

Despite being contracted to the Serie A giants until 2026, Origi could be forced out this summer as the club look to free up space and funds to bring in a more lethal finisher.

The Belgian could only muster two goals from his 36 appearances in all competitions in his debut season at Milan following his move from Liverpool last summer.

That will hardly convince West Ham fans he is the right man to lead their line, but the 28-year-old did bang in 41 goals during his spell at Anfield. That figure came despite the striker largely being used as a substitute under Jurgen Klopp.

But one massive bonus, along with the relatively low fee that he can be expected to leave for, is the player’s ability to score hugely important goals.

That includes memorable strikes against fierce rivals Everton and fellow English club Tottenham in the Champions League final.

Hammers supporters could definitely be in for a few similarly unforgettable moments should their club take a chance on Origi this summer.

In other West Ham news, the club have appointed a new Mark Noble assistant as one boyhood Hammers fan changes his role.
