West Ham United firing on all cylinders in final third as top 5 statistic emerges

West Ham have enjoyed a superb start to the new season, with the East London club flying high domestically and in Europe.

They sit seventh in the Premier League table and are into the last 16 of the League Cup, as well as topping their Europa League group.

It is, of course, very early stages, but things are looking up for the Hammers, and one major reason behind their success is their precise finishing.

As per Opta Analyst (10 October), the Hammers boast a shot conversion rate of 16.50% from their eight Premier League matches so far.

That figure places them fifth in the list among all clubs across England’s top four leagues, with Newcastle United the only other Premier League side in the top five.

The Magpies boast a figure of 17.10%, with League Two clubs Crew Alexandra (19.10%), Notts County (19%) and Swindon Town (17.10%) completing the top five.

The League Two trio have, however, all played more games than David Moyes’ West Ham and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

The figure represents just how much work Moyes and his team have put in behind the scenes, with the Hammers currently one of the most clinical clubs in the country.

Of course things are only going to get harder for the East London outfit as the season progresses, with Moyes needing to strike the right balance between their domestic and European affairs.

Keeping the shot conversion rate as high as possible will undoubtedly help the Hammers on their way to success this season.
