West Ham United favourable in Gianluca Scamacca race after PSG downfall
West Ham United are edging ever closer to the signing of Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca and now their biggest opponents could be out.
The Irons have had a bid accepted by the Serie A side, as reported by Alfredo Pedulla, and will now look to agree on personal terms with the 23-year-old to bring him to Rush Green before the season begins.
Luckily for West Ham, their main challengers in the hunt to sign Scamacca, French champions Paris Saint-Germain, now appear to be on the back foot and could well pull out altogether.
RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi reported on 14 July that the Italian international is no longer the first choice of the Parisiens due to the demands of the Serie A side.
They are not out of the hunt entirely just yet though but they will need Sassuolo to lower their demands for the forward to make a deal viable for them.
That is music to the ears of David Moyes and every Hammers fan as we can now approach the player knowing that there is no other horse in the race which may sway him to accept our terms.
You wouldn’t have blamed him if he had chosen the reigning French champions and potential Champions League contenders over a side in the Conference League.

That option is now almost certainly out of the window which leaves the London Stadium as his only viable option and that is exactly what we need to get the best price for him.
Sassuolo seem prepared to sell him too so West Ham must find a way to come to an agreement with the player and finally sort out our striker problems.
Michail Antonio had better watch out because the Italian will push him extremely hard to be the club’s number nine.
