West Ham United fans will hate what Ange Postecoglou has just said about Tottenham match
West Ham United fans will be in despair as Ange Postecoglou confirms Son Heung-min and Richarlison are available for Tottenham ahead of the Premier League clash on Saturday 19 October.
The Hammers will travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with less hope heading into the match with Spurs captain Son expected to return to the side.
Julen Lopetegui needs a second consecutive league victory after the 4-1 win against Ipswich Town to ease the mounting pressure on his job in East London.
His hopes are now more bleak with Fabrizio Romano reporting on Friday [18 October] via X Postecoglou confirming the return of his attacking duo.
He said: “Yes, they are both good to go.”
West Ham United need to find a way to stop Tottenham
West Ham have not been the worst defensively by any stretch in the Premier League this season, conceding 11 goals in seven outings however, they will face a Spurs side, despite their mixed start, who are averaging two goals per match.
It may be a case of who can score the most goals in North London, neither has been as solid as hoped defensively, and the Irons could smell blood with Tottenham still reeling from the 3-2 loss to Brighton before the international break.
With Son back in contention to line up alongside Dominic Solanke and the free-scoring Brennan Johnson, the setup at Spurs is set to cause the Hammers’ backline a long afternoon of problems.
However, Konstantinos Mavropanos has taken his game up a level for Greece and has been influential in helping his national side maintain a 100 per cent record in the UEFA Nations League, perhaps there may be no better time to test the 26-year-old against a top-level attack.
At the other end of the pitch, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, and Mohammed Kudus all returned to goalscoring ways heading into the break; with Niclas Fullkrug confirmed to miss out, Lopetegui will be relying on his attack to deliver once again in North London.
While Richarlison’s return is a minor issue, Son’s return is massive, Lopetegui will need to identify a way to snuff out the South Korean forward in his own backyard to stand any chance of claiming a crucial victory for the underdogs.
