West Ham United deserve praise as Fabricio Bruno transfer update shared by Sky Sports
West Ham United deserved to be praised after not backing down over their transfer offer for Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno this summer amid an update from Sky Sports.
Tim Steidten has been searching far and wide in Brazil to find talents to bring back to London Stadium, and the technical director thought he had found the Hammers’ first signing of the summer.
However, what ensued with Brazilian centre-back Bruno has been nothing short of chaos already, with the summer transfer window still yet to officially open.
Fabrizio Romano had issued his famous “here we go” phrase surrounding the transfer, though it has now come to light that the deal is completely off, with the player expected to stay at Flamengo, as per Sky Sports [5 June].
It is understood that personal terms were the cause of the transfer’s demise, with the player holding out for higher wages, which Steidten and David Sullivan clearly do not appreciate, now choosing to look elsewhere.

With the summer transfer window not even open yet, it seems foolish for the club to put all their eggs in one basket already.
Julen Lopetegui’s defence is certainly an aspect of the current squad that needs fixing ahead of the 2024-25 campaign – and Bruno would have been a welcomed addition.
While the 28-year-old is an experienced centre-back in Brazil, and clearly knows what he wants from a proposed transfer move, the Hammers are right not to back down and spend more money on a South American talent.

The multiple trips to Brazil may also not be a waste, with the club targeting Palmeiras’ Luis Guilherme, though that transfer has also experienced its ups and downs already.
Luckily for the Irons, there is still plenty of time left for the club to secure signings that Lopetegui can utilise in the Premier League next season.
