West Ham United: David Moyes sack talk could reignite after journalist makes Divin Mubama claim

David Moyes’ job security at West Ham has been a frequent talking point this season, but just as those talks began to die down, journalist Paul Brown has claimed the boss is unlikely to hand Divin Mubama a run of starts.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT [27 November] that he would be surprised if Moyes handed improved game time to Mubama as, due to his cautious nature, he may not want to take the risk.

This news has emerged while Claret & Hugh [28 November] claim the West Ham board’s instruction to Mubama to forget money and focus on football indicates assurances he will be handed more opportunities.

All of this talk has emerged as a result of the 19-year-old turning down the offer of a new deal at the London Stadium [The Athletic, 30 October] as a result of his lack of playing time, despite how highly he is rated by those behind the scenes with the Hammers.

If the board have offered Mubama reassurances over his playing time, and he is not handed those minutes by Moyes, frustrations will surely flare up again, with a continued disconnect between the manager and the board never a good sign for his long-term future.

Given the recent injury to Michail Antonio and the awful form of Danny Ings, who is still yet to find the net this season, there is an expectation among fans and those behind the scenes that Mubama will be given an opportunity to impress.

Moyes handed the youngster a cameo appearance from the bench in the 2-1 victory over Burnley, and he thought he had scored his first Premier League goal for the club before it was ruled as a Dara O’Shea own-goal, but the promise he showed in that appearance should have earned him more minutes.

If the boss cannot line up with the promises or assurances of the board as far as Mubama is concerned, the concerns from the fans and the higher-ups at West Ham will begin to cast doubt over Moyes’ future yet again.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers could hire a current PL boss to replace Moyes.
