View: West Ham United could face transfer ban over reported unpaid £5.4million fee

West Ham United forward Sebastien Haller didn’t quite live up to expectations during his first season at the Londo Stadium.

The Frenchman became the Irons’ record transfer last summer, when he arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal worth up to £50million.

Despite his lack of success, Haller and his substantial fee could be about to course David Moyes even more problems.

West Ham

German outlet Kicker have claimed on their website that the Hammers are facing a transfer ban over unpaid settlements.

West Ham are yet to pay a £5.4million instalment which was due in May, and still owe the Bundesliga club up to £21.7million altogether.

It was reported that Frankfurt had contacted FIFA over the dispute, with the COVID-19 pandemic no excuse for their failures.

Should the Irons pick up a transfer ban, it would be a disaster as Moyes wouldn’t be able to strengthen where he so desperately needs to.

West Ham

Given the radio silence since this report, it is safe to assume that the Hammers have escaped punishment, and have atleast paid the £5.4million fee.

The £50million deal for Haller and other big sums of money spent on players such as Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop has paralysed Moyes.

Manuel Pellegrini was given significant funding that West Ham may not have been able to properly afford, and let’s all hope it doesn’t come back to haunt them and Moyes this summer.

In other West Ham United news, this Irons striker could be on the way out with £5million deal on the table
