And making a move for the Morocco FIFA World Cup star could prove to be a shrewd bit of business from the Hammers this summer.

Bono was described by his national team manager Walid Regragui as “one of the best” goalkeepers in world football at the moment.

“Walid Regragui: “When you have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, it’s reassuring,” said Regragui as quoted by journalist Samindra Kunti on Twitter. (10 December 2022)

“Yassine gives us that. When Yassine makes that kind of save, we are almost invincible.”

Perfect replacement.

Fabianski is now 37 years old and nearing the end of his footballing career so making a move for a seasoned European goalkeeper wouldn’t go amiss for the Hammers.

Bono could come into the ranks as a like-for-like replacement for the Pole or even as competition for the fierce and classy Alphonse Areola.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper showcased he has what it takes to mix it with the best during Morocco’s sensational run at the FIFA World Cup.

From his displays in Qatar, there is no doubt that the goalkeeper could become a valuable asset to have a week in and week out in the Premier League.

Having two top-class goalkeepers in your ranks is essential for any Premier League team in the modern day and Bono would be the ideal set of safe hands to match with Areola.

Whether or not the Hammers make a move for the classy goalkeeper remains to be seen but they could do far worse in their hunt for a successor for Fabianski.
