West Ham United can forget about January move for Celtic ace Cameron Carter-Vickers as update emerges

West Ham have made a significant addition to their squad in the January transfer window, with Kalvin Phillips joining on loan.

The England midfielder has arrived for the remainder of the campaign from Manchester City, with David Moyes clearly keen on bolstering his options ahead of the coming months.

And that is certainly understandable, with the Hammers keen to continue their fine Premier League campaign as well as going on a successful journey in the Europa League.

The manager’s plans may mean one or two more new faces will join before deadline day, but one player that definitely won’t be coming to the London Stadium is Cameron Carter-Vickers.

As per the official Celtic website, the USA international has penned a new five-and-a-half-year deal with the Scottish giants.

According to the Daily Record (16 January), the Hammers had been monitoring the Celtic defender all season, alongside Nottingham Forest and Brentford.

But the Premier League trio have now been hit with a major blow in that pursuit, with the centre-back staying in Glasgow for the long-term.

Moyes did, of course, strengthen his backline last summer, with former Arsenal man Konstantinos Mavropanos making the switch to the London Stadium.

But perhaps the man in the dugout remains dissatisfied with his current options there, particularly with a big and talented squad needed to fight on all fronts.

For now, however, Moyes will have to continue with the likes of Kurt Zouma and Mavropanos, with Angelo Ogbonna in reserve and Nayef Aguerd currently playing at the Africa Cup of Nations.
