West Ham United and AC Milan target Tammy Abraham set for exit as transfer approach made
West Ham United and Julen Lopetegui are on the hunt for a new striker ahead of the start of the new Premier League season.
Having secured the signature of Max Kilman to bolster the Hammers’ backline, the former Wolves manager has now turned his attention to the other end of the pitch with Jhon Duran the leading target [Evening Standard, 9 July].
The Irons are tracking other potential targets as well as the Aston Villa man, with several other strikers being linked with a move to the London Stadium to compete with Michail Antonio for the number nine shirt.
One player who is understood to be on West Ham’s radar is Roma forward Tammy Abraham with reports suggesting the Italian giants are willing to sell the England international for £25.3million [Corriere Della Serra, 17 June].
Although the Hammers are yet to act upon their interest, other clubs are understood to have made contact to sign the striker after Fabrizio Romano shared a new update about his future.
Writing on X on Friday (12 July) Romano said: “AC Milan have made contact with AS Roma for Tammy Abraham. He’s one of the options being considered as Milan want three strikers for next season.
“Tammy would also be keen on the move.”
Will West Ham United sign a new striker during the summer transfer window?
Now that first contact has been made to sign Abraham, the clock is ticking for West Ham and any other teams interested in securing his signature to jump ahead of Milan and win the race to sign the striker.
Tim Steidten and his recruitment team will have to decide quickly whether to act on their interest to try and bring the former Chelsea man back to the Premier League, or allow him to make the move to the San Siro.
Regardless of where his future lies, it seems as though Abraham’s summer Roma exit is now inevitable with the only thing left to be decided is where he ends up and how much for.
Hopefully, West Ham will get their man if they decide to make an offer, as long as they haven’t left it too late.
