West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen has cheeky flirt with Manchester United

West Ham star forward Jarrod Bowen has flirted with Manchester United, insisting that he “followed” them as a kid growing up.

The 25-year-old received his first England call up last week and made his debut in the loss to Hungary on Saturday [June 4].

Comparisons were made between him and David Beckham after the Three Lions’ official Twitter account posted a picture of him as a kid in his England kit with a mow hawk.

To which Bowen replied as per Manchester Evening News: “I followed Manchester United a bit growing up, as well, but I think I more followed him because I thought he was cool.

“Him growing up, me supporting Manchester United, trying to copy him with that picture and, as soon as I got sent it, I knew it was going out.”

Bizarre.

Make no mistake, it is very unlikely to see Bowen leave for Old Trafford any time soon – at least West Ham fans will hope after his latest comments.

Manchester United have often moved crazy in the transfer market, splashing serious cash on a host of quality players.

Hopefully, the Irons winger mentioning that he used to follow them doesn’t prick their ear and put him on their radar as Erik ten Hag looks to undergo a massive rebuild ahead of the 2022/23 season.

He will be playing alongside several United players for England, in particular, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford and if the London Stadium star outperforms them – like he has done all season – on an international stage it could see the new Red Devils boss revaluate his attacking options.

The Hammers saw the interest in Declan Rice skyrocket after he shone in the 2021 European Championship and who is to say the same won’t happen to Bowen?

Stranger things have happened before and absolutely nothing can be ruled out with United in the transfer market.
