West Ham signing Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo ticks all the boxes

West Ham have been linked with a move to sign Strasbourg striker Habib Diallo in the summer transfer window, according to reports from ESPN.

The Hammers have been in the market to sign a striker as David Moyes wants to bring competition for Michael Antonio who had some fitness concerns as well in the last campaign.

Despite having three years left on his contract, the 26-year-old is believed to be open to going to a different League and elevating his football career.

The reports further stated that the Irons will be facing competition from Brighton and Nottingham Forest to secure the signature of the Senegal International.

Dream Striker

After making the semi-finals of the Europa League and finishing seventh in the League, the Hammers are looking forward to another season in Europe as they qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

For Moyes, it will almost be suicidal to go into four different competitions with just one recognized striker in Michael Antonio. The Jamaica international has had injury problems of his own and is likely to not play every week next season.

Therefore, the possible signing of Diallo would be perfect because he will not just compete for the centre-forward role with Antonio, but he will also put some pressure off the Jamaican’s shoulders relating to goal scoring.

That’s not it as with Saïd Benrahma and Nikola Vlasic’s futures in doubt at the club, Diallo is someone who could also play at the wing alongside Antonio [Claret and Hugh].

In the recently concluded Ligue 1 season, the Senegal international made 31 appearances for Strasbourg where he managed to score 11 goals and provided a couple of assists [Transfermarkt].

The 26-year-old averaged 1.6 shots and 0.5 dribbles per game in the league competition as well [Whoscored].
