West Ham must have Flaco Lopez signing down as a priority this summer

This summer transfer window is set to be another busy one at West Ham.

Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, two points adrift of Nottingham Forest, and indeed, safety.

West Ham haven’t played Championship football since the 2011-12 season, but if they can’t find the results soon, then that will be where they’re heading for next term.

As such, regardless of whether it’s top flight or second tier football at the London Stadium in 2026-27, one thing is clear: West Ham chiefs have a lot of work to do in the transfer market.

West Ham were reportedly interested in Flaco Lopez signing

Nuno made four new additions to his West Ham side in this season’s winter transfer window, with mixed successes from these arrivals so far.

Axel Disasi has shown some promise in central defence, whilst Taty Castellanos is proving to be a handful, and probably deserves more than his two league goals from his opening eight appearances.

However, Adama Traore looks to be a major bust for the Hammers, having so far failed to register a single goal contribution across his 20 Fulham appearances and five West Ham games this term.

Meanwhile, Pablo cuts a raw and unrefined talent, with the 22-year-old unable to open his scoring account from his first five appearances as a Hammer, and is now dealing with a calf injury.

There were a host of other players touted with moves to West Ham during the January sales, one of which being Flaco Lopez, as per a report from Somos Fanaticos.

A 25-year-old striker from Palmeiras, the Argentine international has been tearing up Brazilian football over the last few seasons, and looks ready to take the next step in his career as such.

Lopez has made superb start to 2026 season for Palmeiras

Regardless of what division West Ham are in next season, they’re sure to once again be looking for ways to bolster their forward line.

And, with six goals and four assists from his opening 13 games of the 2026 season with Palmeiras, Lopez is yet again sending a loud and clear message that he is a goal contribution machine.

He netted 25 times in 2025 and 22 in 2024 respectively, and is already well on his way to matching and potentially bettering those returns this season.

Now in the prime of his career, Lopez has been with Palmeiras since the summer of 2022, and could be ready to spend his best years trying his hand in European football.

If so, West Ham have to have his signature right near the top of their summer transfer to-do list.
