West Ham must make a move for Jonathan Ikone in January

West Ham have to make a move for Jonathan Ikone in January after a new report emerged in Italy.

Calciomercato claim that the Irons want to sign the 23-year-old forward from Lille; however, they will face strong competition from the likes of Everton and AC Milan.

Ikone currently plays for Lille in the Champions League and could be the perfect addition to David Moyes’ side.

The Frenchman is a versatile and quick forward who could add even more pace and creativity to an already potent Hammers team.

So far this season, he has scored two goals, including one in the Champions League, so he is doing a decent job but could become a real player at the London Stadium.

Now, given the potential competition from other clubs, the Irons really should make a swift move for Ikone and add him to the squad as quickly as possible.

The Hammers should be about to receive some new investment, so you would think finances won’t be a problem [Claret & Hugh].

Ikone is not a natural striker, but given his pace and ability to stretch the play, you would also think that he could fill in for Michail Antonio as and when Moyes decides to give the forward a rest.

He has also been described as “brilliant” by Jean-Claude Giuntini a former French youth coach , so clearly is rated within the footballing community, and he could just be the ideal addition [Ligue 1 website].

So, this is a move that would be great to see in January, and if the Irons want him, they will have to act fast to seal his signature.

In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign a new centre-back who is thriving in the Champions League.
