West Ham fans must admit Graham Potter is right about midfield starlet

West Ham boss Graham Potter hasn’t enjoyed the easiest start to the Premier League season, and that’s putting it lightly.

West Ham have lost four of their opening five games and were dreadful in their 3-0 defeat against Tottenham most recently. This week, it has been suggested that Potter could face the sack if results don’t improve quickly.

Potter was only hired in January, but his ability to lead West Ham up the Premier League table is already being questioned by West Ham fans

However, they should accept that he’s likely right when it comes to his judgment of one player.

Graham Potter says it’s not the right time to use Freddie Potts

Potter has been questioned about his usage of young midfielder Freddie Potts this season.

It was expected that academy products like Potts and George Earthy could break into the first team this season, but that’s not how it’s panned out so far.

Potts has only played one game — he came on as a substitute against Chelsea — while Earthy hasn’t seen any first-time action.

Speaking about Potts ahead of the match against Crystal Palace, Potter suggested it wasn’t the right time to promote him into the first team.

He said: “The Premier League is a competitive league. So of course we want to integrate players. l look at my previous record, it’s something I am very proud of. But you have to do it at the right time for the club, the team, and the individual.”

“Freddie has done well and we will continue to to work with him. That’s where he’s at,” Potter added.

West Ham should back Graham Potter’s opinion when it comes to development of young stars

Potter is facing a lot of scrutiny at the moment, but it’s difficult to question his judgment about the development of young players.

So, if Potter says it’s not the right time to use Earthy and Potts, the supporters should take that as truth.

In most cases, it’s difficult to introduce inexperienced young stars into a relegation dogfight when the supporters are close to turning on the team.

West Ham fans can only hope that the team turns its fortunes around to create a better environment for these young players to continue their development.
