West Ham must act on transfer advice now after Wolves development
West Ham must take Martin Allen’s advice to sign Mario Lemina after he demanded to leave Wolves.
The Irons are working in the winter transfer window to bring in new signings for Graham Potter in the weeks after appointing him as manager.
After a busy summer, there may be limited funds available which could see smart moves be utilised at the London Stadium in January.
This leans into what ex-Hammers midfielder Allen told West Ham Zone (12 January) as he urged his former side to sign the Gabon international.
He said: “I like his arrogance, I like his attitude, I like his aggression, he’s mobile and I would try and sign him to play in front of the back four.”
Now the hierarchy in East London have been handed the perfect opportunity to act on the 59-year-old’s transfer plea.
West Ham must act on Martin Allen’s advice to sign Mario Lemina from Wolves
The 31-year-old recently had the captaincy stripped from him at Molineux after a scuffle on the London Stadium pitch with Jarrod Bowen.
Since that moment, the former Juventus man has made just two appearances and has been absent from the last two matchday squads.
Now the manager of the West Midlands outfit, Vitor Pereira has confirmed to BBC Sport (15 January) that Lemina wants to leave Wolves.
He said: “He said to me that he wants to leave and he communicated this decision one month ago to the club.”
This could represent an ideal chance for the Irons to step in and offer the Gabonese ace a way out of the Black Country with a move to the capital.
It is clear that former midfielder and Leicester City boss Allen wants the ex-Southampton man at the London Stadium and admires his various qualities.
If a versatile midfielder wants a move and Potter’s side are in the market for a midfielder after what Allen said, it could be a perfect match for the Hammers.
