West Ham may live to regret not moving for Alex Scott after £25m deal agreed
It feels like West Ham have been linked with just about every midfielder in European football this transfer window.
With captain Declan Rice having been sold to London rivals Arsenal in a whopping £105million deal, the Hammers have struggled to splash the cash they received from that windfall.
Edson Alvarez finally joined from Ajax, though, in the first of what fans will hope will be a domino effect with James Ward-Prowse and Harry Maguire possibly next through the door.

However, it is another player they were previously linked to (Sky Sports, 21 June) who now looks certain to join a Premier League rival who West Ham might live to regret not moving for.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday (10 August) that Bristol City starlet Alex Scott has completed a medical and signed his contract ahead of a move to Bournemouth, who he says will pay a package worth £25million.
On the surface, that fee for a 19-year-old maybe represents a risk but the rewards if it pays off could be lucrative for the Cherries.
Scott was last season’s Young Championship Player of the Year and already has 83 league appearances to his name and has represented England up to Under-20 level.
If he can turn his prodigious talent into impressive performances in the Premier League, Bournemouth could end up with a player who returns a huge amount in resale value.
David Moyes’ focus has been on securing proven Premier League talent for his squad, but it feels as though the Scot has missed a trick in adding Scott to his ranks.
From both a talent point of view and a financial one, this is a deal West Ham might live to regret not pursuing.
In other West Ham news, James Ward-Prowse was due to undergo a medical as he closes in on a £30m move.
