West Ham made the right call as Kieran Tierney expected to miss 10-12 weeks through injury
West Ham have been proven right already in their decision not to make a move for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window after he picked up a hamstring injury after just six games.
The Athletic shared the news on 3 October that Tierney is expected to miss 10-12 weeks after his latest injury blow, which has become the latest in a long list of fitness issues for the full-back.
The Hammers were linked with a move for the Scottish international [Football Transfers, 7 August] after Aaron Cresswell made his desire to leave the club, but a move to Real Sociedad was confirmed at the end of the window.

The latest crushing injury blow of Tierney’s career will have Hammers fans relieved that they didn’t make a move for him in what would likely have been an expensive deal for the club.
Emerson Palmieri’s emergence as a key option for David Moyes would also have softened the blow, after the Italian left-back has stepped up his performances so far this season, bringing more of a dynamic attacking element to the left-hand side than was offered by Cresswell.
Cresswell himself has struggled for game time at the London Stadium after attempting to force through a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers and was taken off at half-time in the Europa League clash with Backa Topola, but he remains an important player as a backup option.

Moyes was reportedly keen on bringing Tierney, his fellow countryman, to East London, but may now be relieved to have missed out, with the Scot’s move to Spain getting off to a particularly slow start.
West Ham have been fortunate in the injury department so far this season, with Premier Injuries listing Cresswell as the only issue the club currently face.
In other West Ham news, a star player could be set to miss the clash with Freiburg.
