West Ham-linked Jesse Lingard told off by Manchester United fans

West Ham-linked Jesse Lingard was seen having a lengthy discussion with a section of the Manchester United fans on Sunday evening.

The Red Devils lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool and while Lingard was warming up, according to him, he was told by a fan that he needed to work harder.

Lingard eventually was not brought on despite his side needing a spark in the final third, and he took to Twitter to address the issue.

He wrote, “It wasn’t abuse. He said ‘work harder’ like I’m not already doing that day in day out. And I said ‘I’m not even on the pitch’ end of.”

However, he ended up staying put at Old Trafford, hoping that he will get some game time.

Yet, his minutes on the pitch have been limited and he still hasn’t signed a new deal at the club as his current one runs out in the summer.

The tweet on Sunday was clearly a sign of his frustration boiling over as players are subject to criticism from fans quite frequently, but rarely are they seen snapping back at them.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly does not rate Lingard highly enough to put him his first-choice playing eleven and for the betterment of his career, he could force a transfer in January.

He will also be available for a considerably cheaper than he would’ve been this past summer so the Hammers could re-enter the race and given how well David Moyes and he got along, there’s a good chance that the London Stadium will be his preferred destination.
