West Ham have perfect chance to sign Calvert-Lewin as Everton plunged into fresh crisis

West Ham United now have the perfect chance to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin with Everton plunged into an unexpected crisis.

The Toffees’ latest takeover collapse couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Friedkin Group has withdrawn their interest after weeks of negotiations, leaving Everton’s future hanging by a thread [Liverpool Echo, July 19].

This is the second takeover attempt to fail in three months, thrusting the club into uncertainty and raising fears of administration.

Everton’s financial troubles are deepening. The club now owes £200million to 777 Partners and A-Cap, and with 777 Partners now under investigation for allegedly operating a “fraudulent scheme,” the situation is becoming dire [The i newspaper, July 19].

The Friedkin Group had lent £200million to help build the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, but that’s as far as their involvement goes.

The news comes after Everton insider Bryan King exclusively told Goodison News on 7 July that the takeover hit a “stumbling block” due to the money that was owed to 777 Partners.

So, what does this mean for West Ham?

It’s simple. They have a golden opportunity to sign Calvert-Lewin. Everton’s financial woes might force them to offload key players, and Calvert-Lewin fits the bill perfectly for West Ham’s needs. The Hammers desperately need to upgrade their forward options, with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings both past their prime.

Calvert-Lewin, despite some recent struggles, is still a quality player with plenty of Premier League experience. At 27, he’s in the prime of his career and a move could help him rediscover his best form. Living in London could also be appealing for him, as former Everton scout Bryan King suggested.

West Ham should seize this moment. Calvert-Lewin would not only bring fresh energy to their attack but also has the potential to become their long-term number nine.

And, if the money is right, this move makes perfect sense for both the player and the club.

In times of crisis, opportunities arise. West Ham should, therefore, act quickly to capitalise on Everton’s turmoil and secure a striker who can lead their line for years to come.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka amid a £17million transfer development.
