West Ham ‘handed incredible Ezechiel Banzuzi transfer boost’ after new admission
Graham Potter and West Ham may have already been handed a transfer boost ahead of the summer transfer window opening up.
The former Brighton and Chelsea boss, alongside Kyle Macaulay, was only able to bring Evan Ferguson to the London Stadium before the winter window slammed shut, albeit not a poor signing.
Having proven himself across multiple seasons in the Premier League, East London looks to be the perfect home for him to rediscover his previous form, especially under the guidance of a familiar coach.
However, there is no hiding from the fact that the Hammers needed more than just one signing for Potter’s reign to truly begin, with several key players on the treatment table.
That is exactly why OH Leuven’s Ezechiel Banzuzi was a player of interest at the London Stadium, with the club attempting to secure his signature before the 11pm deadline on 3 February [Jacob Steinberg].
OH Leuven sporting director drops interesting admission
While a deal never materialised for the 19-year-old Dutchman, the Premier League side have just been handed quite an incredible boost to sign him once the next window rolls around.
Speaking to Het Nieuwsblad [6 February], OH Leuven sporting director Gyorgy Csepregi said: “We have agreed with Eze that he will finish the season. In the summer we definitely give him the next step.
“He’s completely outgrown the competition, hasn’t he? He plays on one leg.”
Not only is that a huge boost for the Hammers are their quest for Banzuzi’s signature, but it speaks volumes about the midfielder who could eventually end up at East London.
Ezechiel Banzuzi ready for West Ham United step-up
At just 19 years of age, Banzuzi already plays a starring role for Leuven from the centre of midfield, boasting one goal and five assists in 23 league appearances this season.
Many supporters would argue that he could easily replace Guido Rodriguez or Edson Alvarez, both of whom have struggled in the starting XI this season.

With six yellow cards and one sending-off, that is certainly an aspect of his game which needs to be addressed if he is to come to the Premier League, but that can be easily sorted.
He already has his first cap for the Netherlands Under-21s, but coming to a Premier League team would boost the value of his name instantly, making him a more ideal pick for the senior national team.
A move to England makes sense for all parties this summer and the Hammers will need to be on high alert after the sporting director’s recent comments on the player.
