West Ham get good news via latest photo of Newcastle star Kieran Trippier

West Ham may have rescued a point at Leicester in the dying embers of the game, but that wasn’t the only bit of good news to come out of Sunday.

Craig Dawson’s stoppage-time header will have sent David Moyes and the travelling fans home happy, and then they would have seen an image of Kieran Trippier that would be a huge relief.

The England international was forced off early into the second half of Newcastle’s 1-0 win against Aston Villa, where he scored the winner from a free-kick in the first half.

Jordan Cronin on Twitter later posted a photo on Twitter of the 31-year-old returning to St. James’ Park on crutches with a protective boot on having been to the hospital for an x-ray.

It is currently unknown the extent of the injury but it can’t be particularly good news for that level of protection to be needed instantly.

West Ham supporters shouldn’t be celebrating a player getting injured for good reason but it is a blessed relief to not have his deadly set-piece ability to contend with when the Magpies visit the capital this week (Saturday, 19 February).

He could still make the game, depending on the news that emerges when the diagnosis is made but it seems incredibly unlikely that he’ll be fit to face the Irons.

In his place came Sweden international Emil Krafth but the Magpies looked far less threatening when he came on and Villa had the ball in the net from his right-hand side in the second half before it was ruled out for offside against Ollie Watkins.

Whoever replaces Trippier will be no match for either Said Benrahma or Pablo Fornals who are battling to secure that left-wing spot with Nikola Vlasic also in the conversation.

Javi Manquillo also went off injured for Newcastle which could be good news for the red hot Jarrod Bowen to continue his goal-scoring streak.

In other West Ham news, three Hammers were given 4/10 ratings in our verdict of the Leicester draw on Sunday.
