West Ham flop further proof of transfer failings amid EFL transfer development
West Ham have further proof that their transfer approach is wrong as a £17.5million signing looks set to leave for the Championship.
The Hammers have dropped some clangers with their business in recent years, an example from the summer just gone is the addition of Luis Guilherme.
The Brazilian joined for £25.5million [BBC Sport] and is yet to truly have a positive impact under Julen Lopetegui.
At 18 years old, the winger still has plenty of time to prove his worth whereas another Irons ace looks set to depart as his two-year spell in East London looks set to come to an end.
West Ham in fresh transfer failure
David Moyes brought Maxwell Cornet to the London Stadium in 2022 after a superb debut campaign for a relegated Burnley side.
In a deal worth £17.5m to Lyon [Sky Sports], the Ivory Coast international has never truly hit the heights expected of him which has resulted in a loan spell away this campaign.
A temporary move to Southampton has done little to prove to Lopetegui why he should be part of his squad, featuring just twice under Russell Martin.
The Hammers could now look to recall the forward and send him on another loan but this time to the Championship, with Blackburn Rovers and Watford interested [225foot].

It isn’t necessarily Cornet’s fault that a move to the Irons failed but given that the second tier now appears to be his level, the deal is further proof of wasted money by the London Stadium hierarchy.
This can not continue to happen before it has a spiral effect on the squad and a relegation battle becomes a realistic concern.
