West Ham fans have every right to be excited by new Josh Ajala announcement, here’s why

West Ham have announced that highly-rated youngster Josh Ajala has penned terms with the club for a new contract this Friday.

The fresh deal will see the attacker stay at the London Stadium for another two years, as his new contract runs until the summer of 2028.

The 19-year-old was joined by his parents at Rush Green to finalise the deal, and on social media, Hammers fans are rightly excited about the news.

Ajala‘s contract has been the topic of discussion for many weeks, with many worried that West Ham‘s gem could leave for another club, as interest gathered.

This is why supporters have been asking for his new deal.

Why West Ham have a gem on their hands in Josh Ajala

Ajala looked like he was going to leave the Hammers at one point, with plenty of European clubs interested.

The teenager’s deal was close to expiring, but his continued performances at Rush Green left West Ham’s hierarchy with no other choice.

Ajala’s Premier League 2 stats this season:

The versatile forward has five goal contributions in his last three games for West Ham’s U21s side, and recently caught the attention for his performance in the National League Cup against Tamworth.

The Englishman dragged the Irons to the final of the competition through a heroic stoppage-time brace, in which chaos ensued from Zavon Hines’ bench.

The Hammers’ U21s side will now meet Boreham Wood in the final of the National League Cup on Tuesday 17 March, and it’s arguably all down to Ajala.

What has Ajala said on his West Ham development?

Nuno Espirito Santo has shown his willingness to give opportunities to youngsters, and with the way things are looking, Ajala could be next up at E20.

He offers tremendous ball-carrying ability, and the skill to beat a man at pace, something which the Irons have lacked at times this season.

Reflecting on his time at the Hammers so far, Ajala believes that this is the place for him to stay and develop following his recent fresh deal.

Ajala said, as quoted by West Ham‘s official website: “I think West Ham has been a really good place for my development over the last couple of years.

“I feel like I’ve been in good form for a lot of the time, scoring goals for both the Under-18s and Under-21s. I want to keep scoring goals for the youth teams, and hopefully that will give me the chance to do so for the first team.”
