West Ham dealt Harry Maguire transfer blow after he did something that hasn’t been seen at London Stadium since 2023
West Ham missed out on signing Harry Maguire last year.
David Moyes wanted Maguire at West Ham in 2024 as the Scot looked to improve his defensive options at the London Stadium.
Frank McAvennie urged West Ham to sign Maguire, but a deal never went through and the England international remained at Old Trafford.
The centre-back’s gametime has been limited under Ruben Amorim and it is little surprise that Moyes and Everton have been linked to Maguire recently.
The Hammers are now bound to look back in annoyance that they didn’t get Maguire after what they’ve seen from the defender at Manchester United.

Harry Maguire scored Manchester United winner vs Liverpool
West Ham fell to defeat against Brentford on Monday, as fans protested the ownership by boycotting the fixture in East London.
The performance was shocking as everything was made easy for the Bees on their trip across the capital in a dismal home performance.
There was little reason for positivity in claret and blue as relegation now looks to be staring Nuno Espirito Santo in the face.
By comparison, Manchester United picked up a huge 2-1 derby win against Liverpool on Sunday, winning their first game at Anfield since 2016.
Maguire netted the winner with a superb header back across goal, finding the bottom corner to secure a massive three points.
It is this exact quality that West Ham will be jealous of as they continue to miss out on goals from their central defenders in East London.
West Ham centre-backs haven’t scored since 2023
The Englishman netted his 17th goal for the Red Devils in the win at Anfield.
Since the start of last season, Maguire has contributed to eight goals, which is a positive record for a defender in 48 appearances.
West Ham have been let down by central defenders in this area, with nearly two years having passed since the Irons last scored through a centre-back.
Konstantinos Mavropanos was the last to do so, having netted in a 2-0 away win against Arsenal on 28 October 2023, 663 days ago.

The Greek beats out Kurt Zouma, who netted 781 days ago, while 793 days have passed since Nayef Aguerd last got on the scoresheet.
This lack of attacking intent from the back points towards the poor quality of set-pieces that the Irons have endured for many years.
Having Maguire in the ranks could have helped change this record, so the Irons are bound to be fuming that they never landed his signing while they could.
