West Ham could still sign Jesse Lingard after new update emerges

West Ham could still sign Jesse Lingard this summer after a new report from the Manchester Evening News suggested that Manchester United are once again open to selling the 28-year-old.

Lingard had a sensational loan spell with the Irons as he scored nine goals and provided five assists.

However, rather than signing permanently for the Hammers, Lingard returned to Old Trafford, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that he wanted to keep the England international.

Then there was talk that Lingard wanted to stay and fight for his place, and it looked very unlikely that West Ham would sign him [The Athletic].

However, the Manchester Evening News now claim that Lingard has a seat “reserved in the departures’ lounge,” and the club are very much open to selling him to make space in their squad.

So, could this finally be the chance West Ham need to strike and sign Lingard? Well, if the club are happy to let him go, we can imagine that if the Hammers come forward with an acceptable fee, Solskjaer will be overruled.

Lingard truly was brilliant while he was with the Hammers and was described as “amazing” by Rio Ferdinand [Vibe with Five].

He was the main man, and if West Ham could finally agree a deal for him, you would expect him to pick up where he left off.

The truth is this deal should have been done ages ago, but the Hammers still have plenty of time to bring him in.

After this latest update, they might never get a better chance to sign the 28-year-old, so we hope they go all out for him.
